Let’s finish 2016 strong.
MeadowBrook has two ways in the month of December to enable us to finish strong as a church. One is to celebrate Advent and the other is to celebrate in obedience through our second Harvest Offering.
Advent simply means “coming” or “arrival.” It is a season that begins November 27 and is celebrated through Christmas Day. Although Christmas is the celebration of the Lord’s first coming, Advent celebrates both his humble birth and his triumphant second coming. Each week, MeadowBrook will focus on aspects of Advent.
• The Promise (week 1, beginning November 27)
• The Incarnation (week 2, week of December 4)
• The Proclamation (week 3, week of December 11)
• The Invitation (week 4, week of December 18)
• The Return (week 5, week of December 25)
Not only will the church have worship services that focus on each of these themes, but individuals and families may use MeadowBrook’s Advent Guide to have meaningful family worship throughout the season. The guide will help our entire church family to have a purposeful and meaningful season. You may pick up a printed guide at the church or download one here.
Christmas is on Sunday this year, which gives families and each of us a unique opportunity to worship Jesus on the day that we commemorate his birth. Our Christmas morning services (9:30 and 11:00) give you opportunity to ask your family and friends to join you for a special themed service. Some, who may not attend church or have not been saved, may be more accepting of your invitation for a Christmas morning church service. Don’t miss this opportunity to have great gospel impact!
On December 11, MeadowBrook will have our second Harvest Offering. The first offering, received on May 22, honored the Lord. $1.5 million was given! That is an astounding amount of generosity and kingdom investment. Your treasure giving proved your heart.
The first Harvest Offering was an amazing collection—one-half of our cash and asset goal was reached in one day! We made a huge stride towards having the resources to build our new worship and education building without debt. I am trusting that the second Harvest Offering will be glorifying to God, too.
What is remarkable is that since giving the first Harvest Offering, God has already begun to replenish the accounts of many contributors. He is proving to be faithful again, and he is rewarding those who have proven to be faithful to him.
Will you invest in God’s expanding kingdom? Will you invest so that together we might have great impact in Etowah County and the surrounding areas? By generously contributing, you’ll provide opportunities for many others to experience generational corporate worship, Bible-centered preaching and ministries for people of all ages. In doing so, you will positively impact lives for generations to come and reap kingdom dividends for eternity.
For those over the age of 70 ½, a direct contribution from an IRA (up to $100,000 annually) may be given to the church. Congress has made permanent the exclusion from income of such distributions. This gives opportunity for people to make significant contributions with great tax benefits.
December will be a remarkable month of ministry and blessings. I am excited to share the experiences with you.
